Baby Booties

I should have stuck with my favorite baby bootie pattern, designed by Lenore English. Instead I decided to try a pattern from one of my favorite beginner books. There are no zoomed in photos to help. This pattern has been a challenge to interpret from the beginning. I'm now within one round of finishing the first bootie, but I've decided that I can stop right now, insert a sock full of fiberfil, and call it a lovely pin cushion. It looks pretty good in the picture, but, believe me, it has some major shaping problems and the fit would be terrible. It will make a much better pin cushion, and I won't need to tat the other one! :D

tatsknot,
I'm sorry that this didn't work out like you wanted. But I'm very happy that you was able to make something good come from it. Not too many others are going to have a pin cushion in the shape of a bootie or tatted. That's making lemone aide out of a pattern that let you down. Your favorite pattern for booties is that for a reason & now we all know what it is. Cause your favorite bootie pattern works!! So now you can make the pair of booties with your favorite pattern. Then you can show us them, can't wait to see them.

Looks like it would be a pin cushion slipper. :)
Great try!

I think it would make a very pretty pin cushion.

Oh what a shame but at least it will be used for something. It is so delicate looking really pretty though!

Yeah, although it looks pretty nice I believe you had a hard time with it. Sometimes it is too hard to see what is wrong with the pattern until you finish. I assume you will make next one with Lenore English pattern that you know already :))

It certainly is interesting. I would've loved to see it finished.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement, my friends. I'll show you the pin cushion when it is finished. Then I shall move on to the next item on my Tat Do list. I'll get back to baby booties later.

Well...back in the day...LOL! When we used cloth diapers and diaper pins, wouldn't this have been a great holder for those diaper pins??? It would still make a pretty pincushion, whether for diaper pins, quilting pins, or whatever. I don't think I've ever tatted anything but Lenore's pattern. I added an extra blossom last time, but the basic bootie is the same.

Gina, I confess I used cloth diapers and diaper pins. LOL! Perhaps it would make a more practical gift today with a little cup sitting in the sock for holding little things like nail clippers, q-tips, etc.
