Wanda's Graduation Cross
I used Wanda's Graduation Cross pattern for this little cross in one of the Lizbeth variegated threads. I got off to a bad start when I made the 3rd of the starting rings a split ring and didn't catch my mistake until I had worked my way around to start the 3rd leg. Oops! I resolved the issue by making a fourth ring for the center with a SCMR. It would have been less obvious in a solid thread, but I feel it was a decent compromise that kept this piece from the trash bin. My photograph doesn't do this thread justice.

Lovely cross
Margaret
I love that thread! It drives me crazy to realize I made a mistake way back. I'm getting to the point where I quickly snip the thread and fix it, or I totally ignore it. I used to spend hours retro-tatting. I guess I should learn how to make a SCMR so that I can make adjustments as you have! ;-)
Thank you, Margaret. I confess, Diane, that those techniques do come in handy at unexpected moments. The longer I tat, the more inclined I am to think first of ways to salvage the piece when I make a mistake rather than cut it out. Cutting out is my last resort. I've got a week of vacation planned late in May and I think I'm going to devote it to mastering a few more techniques. I still have to dig out my instructions for the split chain every time I make it which usually means I try to avoid it. :)
Unusual sequence of colours in the thread.
Fox : )
The cross looks good, mistake or not. I really didn't notice it until I read what happened. :-)
Thank you, tattrldy. The thread color is Confetti by Lizbeth. I agree, Fox, that it is an unusual sequence with dark blue and maroon with light green and a soft yellow. My daughter chose it for this cross.
I like it!! :)
