Halloween in July

You've heard of Christmas in July, well I've felt motivated to tat with the Halloween theme in July instead. I put up some pumpkin earring jackets in the Etsy shop last night and I've been playing with ideas for a ghost pattern. When my own ideas just weren't coming through, I decided to tat Mark Myers Scary Ghost in size 80 thread. (Correction: It is Mettler Machine Quilting Thread, about a size 100.) It's finished size is 4.5 cm by 4.5 cm. I used split rings to climb from row 1 to row 2. It was just the break I needed to get the clogs in my brain turning again. I started flipping through my design notebook and spotted an element in one of my doily designs that suddenly resembled a ghost. The little ghost by Scary Ghost's side is a prototype of one of the ideas that resulted. Don't look too closely because he's tied together in places and there are spots where I cut things out and kept going--very much a rough work--but you can see where I'm headed anyway.

Enjoying the Holidays

When finals were over I got busy decorating for the holidays and shopping for presents. I have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with my family and getting things done here at home. I'm afraid that, in my haste to get presents wrapped and delivered, I forgot to take some pictures of the bookmarks I made for my great-niece and great-nephews. I tatted Mark Myers football for the boys, adding tassels in their individual team colors. Their sister received Heather Johnson's Tatted Lady 2 in variegated pinks.

I'm catching up on my blog reading and I look forward to spending some time at the forums before I get back into the swing of another college semester. See you around!
